Data can be stolen from users by using variety of malware, including Trojans, and rootkits. PC users have to always face ever-increasing threats and are under constant risk of unwanted access to their personal data and information. and it should flag you on rootkit activity, which many AV miss. it is very good to tell you if something has changed in your system (kinda like winpatrol, but through the scans).

Summary: not to be relied on for malware protection, but it likely helps as a complimentary AV and is light enough that it doesn’t hurt your resources. One thing i liked, is it found a browser extention that i had erased, but was still partially there or something. i don’t know if it could clean them, but it would likely find them. i am unsure of how effective it is at rootkits and would love to see testing on this.

you can also play with the settings to find hidden trojans. it takes a pic of your settings, boot record, etc, and compares it to detect if bootkit malware has infected you. a red flag is malware (according to virustotal).Īnd yes, it detects rootkits. many reviews here don’t seem to understand that.

a yellow flag means it is unknown, not that it is malware. it uses virustotal to flag malware, but caution should be used seeing as virustotal has frequent false positives. this is not for pin pointing malware, but to give the user the information to isolate it himself. The scan results are laid out in an unintuitive way, but they are very indepth. it is quite good at cleaning adware problems, and in my tests, detected the same stuff as adwcleaner, which, is pretty good. I have a lifetime membership with it and i only use it for a demand scanner. it casts some doubt about how closely they actually looked at this program! i like the fact that it can block crypto miners. I find it odd that not one review on here even knew or mentioned that unhackme has a network shield on it.
